President Obama:

Barack Hussein Obama, the president of the united states. His father was born in Kenya Africa, his mom in Kansas, but he was born and raised in Hawaii. His grandfather and grandmother both helped in raising him. His grandfather served in Patton's army, and his grandmother worked at a bank.

After college he moved to Chicago with the help of scholarships and student loans. Here he supposedly worked with churches, by helping them rebuild. Then he went to law school where he became the first African American president of Harvard Law Review. After law school he moved back to Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

His first years of service were in the Illinois State Senate. As a U.S.senater he passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, and supposedly cut taxes for working families. He served 3 terms in the Illinois Senate, from 1997 to 2004.

Obama ran for U.S. senate in 2004, and that is how he started to get national attention. He won the election, and became an U.S.senater. Then he began to run for
the presidency in February 2007. Well you obviously know that he won that.

Now he is The President of the United States, and he has been at it since November 2008. His whole election was based on change. Do you think that he is making the right changes???

fall feature story

Now Playing………Fall
What I like about fall is not hitting the ground, but eating the turkey that I shot from the ground. Color leaves, on the trees, are a beautiful sight to see. The mountains where I use to live have greatly inspired me. Also in fall of course there’s Thanksgiving, we are thankful for all the things God is giving. Turkey and dressing are part of this feast, when everyone eats they look like a beast. Everyone is devouring all the tasty treats that grandmothers everywhere are making for their peeps. So in that sense fall is in the sky, so pull up a chair and have some pumpkin pie.
The weather in the fall goes up and down here. You never know what weather will appear. You bring a jacket to school one day, and then by the end it is out of the way. Overall fall weather rules, especially when the temperatures stay cool.
Thanksgiving is also about family. I love my family’s yearly trip to Alabama to visit family. All my family lives in Alabama, so we obviously travel there every year. At my house it is all about family, we eat and spend time together, with family. Me and my family always have fun. We make piles of leaves and jump in one by one. My family is very special to me if you hadn’t guessed, so think about yours on this Thanksgiving feast.

things that make you go hmmm......

Do you think that the pilgrims just ate turkey, and stuffing?
That is what I was thinking, because that is the first thing that comes to my mind. So what if I was to tell you that they had food you wouldn’t expect, on their menu. On the pilgrims menu they actually had seal, lobster, and swans. Lobster is good, but swan and seal, i dont think so. They had all kinds of food, from seafood to herbs and seasoning.
This is what was really on their menu:
SEAFOOD: Cod, Eel, Clams, Lobster
WILD FOWL: Wild Turkey, Goose, Duck, Crane, Swan, Partridge, Eagles
MEAT: Venison, Seal
GRAIN: Wheat Flour, Indian corn
VEGETABLES: Pumpkin, Peas, Beans, Onions, Lettuce, Radishes, Carrots
FRUIT: Plums, Grapes
NUTS: Walnuts, Chestnuts, Acorns
HERBS AND SEASONINGS: Olive Oil, Liverwort, Leeks, Dried Currants, Parsnips

When you think about doing a real thanksgiving meal are you really going to do a real one? I think I am just going to stick to the awesome thanksgiving meal my grandmother makes. If you want to do a real thanksgiving meal, have fun, but to really have the feast right, I think that you should have everything that they had. I’m not sure how you will find some of those foods, but good luck. Maybe you should go hunting for it, that would be fun. Over all the pilgrims did have an awesome meal.
