Autobiography:

My name is ele vator. I was born in Djiboutich on september 12,1542. I am half elephant half vator(as in darth vator) I have 40 siblings, and 400 animals, well i collect them. I started collecting animals when i was only 3 years old. My favorite animals are the wild ones. When i was 13 i started growing a trunk. You may think that that was weird, but it came in handy, since we dont have showers in Djiboutich.

The only thing that my country is famous for is there

Things That Make You Go Hmmm...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Snow, snow wonderful snow, but what do we all know about snow. We know it comes from above, and we all have learned to love, all about that wonderful snow. Living in Louisiana, we do not get snow often, i guess that is why we love it so much. Since we love it so much, wouldn't it be great to actually know about it also. So, where does snow come from? Well snow crystals are born in clouds when water vapor freezes on a particle of dust, bacteria,or other solid materials. When cloud temperatures are at or below freezing, and there is a lot of moisture in the air,ice crystals form. Then as water vapor freezes it molds each shape of the snow flakes. Every snowflake is different and special in its own way. Isn't God amazing! Oh yeah and dont forget, never eat the yellow snow.

Americas Present:

Today America is great. we are free and happy. we do though have some issues. starting off with politics, we need help in that, but that is just my opinion. also we have music, and high tech stuff. we are definitely more advanced than back in the day of the pilgrims.

we have more freedoms than in the past. plus it is a more enjoyable America now. since we have advanced, there are more things to do. i think that it is more exciting now then it was back then. you have more stuff do, more places to visit and to hang out at.

americas present:

americas past:

Americas past was full of adventure, war, and pain. we went through alot just to get to where we are today. It all started with the Indians, then the pilgrims, and finally what we have today. Everything that happened in the past has helped us today.
we learn from the past.

you can learn alot from the past. you learn from the mistakes that you made, and the experiences that you have been through. hopfully from all of that you learn to get better at the things that you do.i guess in that since that is how we are what we are today.

President Obama:

Barack Hussein Obama, the president of the united states. His father was born in Kenya Africa, his mom in Kansas, but he was born and raised in Hawaii. His grandfather and grandmother both helped in raising him. His grandfather served in Patton's army, and his grandmother worked at a bank.

After college he moved to Chicago with the help of scholarships and student loans. Here he supposedly worked with churches, by helping them rebuild. Then he went to law school where he became the first African American president of Harvard Law Review. After law school he moved back to Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

His first years of service were in the Illinois State Senate. As a U.S.senater he passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, and supposedly cut taxes for working families. He served 3 terms in the Illinois Senate, from 1997 to 2004.

Obama ran for U.S. senate in 2004, and that is how he started to get national attention. He won the election, and became an U.S.senater. Then he began to run for
the presidency in February 2007. Well you obviously know that he won that.

Now he is The President of the United States, and he has been at it since November 2008. His whole election was based on change. Do you think that he is making the right changes???

fall feature story

Now Playing………Fall
What I like about fall is not hitting the ground, but eating the turkey that I shot from the ground. Color leaves, on the trees, are a beautiful sight to see. The mountains where I use to live have greatly inspired me. Also in fall of course there’s Thanksgiving, we are thankful for all the things God is giving. Turkey and dressing are part of this feast, when everyone eats they look like a beast. Everyone is devouring all the tasty treats that grandmothers everywhere are making for their peeps. So in that sense fall is in the sky, so pull up a chair and have some pumpkin pie.
The weather in the fall goes up and down here. You never know what weather will appear. You bring a jacket to school one day, and then by the end it is out of the way. Overall fall weather rules, especially when the temperatures stay cool.
Thanksgiving is also about family. I love my family’s yearly trip to Alabama to visit family. All my family lives in Alabama, so we obviously travel there every year. At my house it is all about family, we eat and spend time together, with family. Me and my family always have fun. We make piles of leaves and jump in one by one. My family is very special to me if you hadn’t guessed, so think about yours on this Thanksgiving feast.

things that make you go hmmm......

Do you think that the pilgrims just ate turkey, and stuffing?
That is what I was thinking, because that is the first thing that comes to my mind. So what if I was to tell you that they had food you wouldn’t expect, on their menu. On the pilgrims menu they actually had seal, lobster, and swans. Lobster is good, but swan and seal, i dont think so. They had all kinds of food, from seafood to herbs and seasoning.
This is what was really on their menu:
SEAFOOD: Cod, Eel, Clams, Lobster
WILD FOWL: Wild Turkey, Goose, Duck, Crane, Swan, Partridge, Eagles
MEAT: Venison, Seal
GRAIN: Wheat Flour, Indian corn
VEGETABLES: Pumpkin, Peas, Beans, Onions, Lettuce, Radishes, Carrots
FRUIT: Plums, Grapes
NUTS: Walnuts, Chestnuts, Acorns
HERBS AND SEASONINGS: Olive Oil, Liverwort, Leeks, Dried Currants, Parsnips

When you think about doing a real thanksgiving meal are you really going to do a real one? I think I am just going to stick to the awesome thanksgiving meal my grandmother makes. If you want to do a real thanksgiving meal, have fun, but to really have the feast right, I think that you should have everything that they had. I’m not sure how you will find some of those foods, but good luck. Maybe you should go hunting for it, that would be fun. Over all the pilgrims did have an awesome meal.

AOL:

American Online
“Hey wat up”, do you really want to call someone and tell them this or would it just be easier, if you don’t have txt, just to txt it to them on the computer. Why don’t you try AOL? On this website you can do anything from email, checking the weather, listening to music, even watch TV, shop and play games. This website has kind of lost its popularity though. Most people are now on my space or face book. To be honest I have never even been on this website until today. I think that it is pretty much the same as the others, just much older.
Let me tell you in more detail about what it really is, and I will try to answer all your questions. AOL was founded by William von Meister. It was originally created as a way to communicate to your friends online. It helps you stay in touch with your friends no matter if they are face book or my space kinda people. AIM and AOL is really the same thing. They provide you with all the same things as MySpace and face book, but AOL is the old way. The new way to communicate is face book and MySpace.
Oh by the way did you know that you have to pay for AOL. What do people really think about AOL? Well lately they have started to give email and their other sources away for free. “They will no longer market their online dial up services, and they are giving it all away for free.” says someone from Yahoo. If you are bored one day, and are on the computer, give AOL a look at.

Barnes and Noble:

Barnes and Noble
By Hannah Bell
Is it really just books? Or is there more? What really cool things make up this store? What do you see when you walk through its doors? Come walk with me and I’ll give you the tour.
Soooooo… on that note, Barnes and Noble is divided into several different categories. I can’t cover them all in this summery, but I will name a few. Here are some of the categories the store has, the newsstand/periodicals, the cool kids section, books on everything you can think of or imagine, a café, the teen section, music, art, and comics.
It is more than just reading books, you can study, hang out, eat, drink coffee, research, listen to music, and the store even has Wi-Fi. Barnes and Noble has a wide selection of games also. Everything from puzzles to travel games is found here. Many different varieties’ of people come to Barnes and Noble, from small children to the elderly.
Remember the cool kids section I mentioned? It is as cool as I described it to be. My mom and I entered the kids section with awe of how it really draws kids there into reading books. It actually drew my mom into it too. She loves the books called Olivia, because it is my middle name, and because Olivia is this cute little pig. My mom became upset because she saw all these cute stuffed animals, but none of them were that cute little pig. So we began to search for Olivia, and of course I found it.
The music and DVD area is like this huge library of music. There is music from everything you can think of. There is everything from tribal music to Christian. I think that Barnes and Noble has one of those tribal cds, because all I heard throughout the store was that. It is very interesting music. We cannot forget the café, it is amazing. The café has everything from coffee to treats to eat. My mom and I got one of the brownies and it was delicious. The coffee is star bucks and a little high on the prices, but worth it all.
The magazine section is pretty cool and large for its size. There are magazines on everything you can think of. Yes all the magazines aren’t good; there are some pretty dirty magazines. There are though some cool ones too, like ladies home journal, ones on cooking, and sports. At Barnes and Noble there is a discount card program that you can use. If you are an everyday member you save everyday in the store and online. There is also a way to save by email offers, or you can enjoy their savings on their website.
Barnes and Noble is a really cool place to go! This was my first time ever going there, I did not know that there could be an escalator in a book store, it was so cool. The whole experience was awesome! If I could I would go there often, but since we live so far away, I can’t. Thanks Ms. Meloncon for this amazing adventure!

song of the week(10-11 to 10-17)

Album: My Paper Heart
Artist: Francesca Battistelli

My heart beats, standing on the edge
But my feet have finally left the ledge

Like an acrobat
There’s no turning back

(Chorus)
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
I’m losing control
Of my destiny
It feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go

This is a giant leap of faith
Trusting and trying to embrace
The fear of the unknown
Beyond my comfort zone

(Chorus)

Giving in to your gravity
Knowing You are holding me
I’m not afraid

(Chorus)

Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
Feels like I’m falling and this is the life for me

song of the week (10-4 to 10-11)

Album: My Paper Heart
Artist: Francesca Battistelli

(Chorus)
You are my forever love
You are my forever love
You are my forever love
You are my forever love

From the bottom of my heart I’ll sing to You
From the depths of who I am I love You
With everything inside I’ll run to You
‘Cause all that I’ve become I owe to You
this is one of my favorite worship songs:
(Chorus)

From the bottom of my heart I’ll sing to You
From the depths of who I am I love You
With everything inside I’ll run to You
‘Cause all that I’ve become I owe to You

(Chorus)

Nothing in this world could ever separate us
I will love You more than anyone on earth
Nothing I desire could ever satisfy me the way that You do

(Chorus)

monkey boy

this boy is getting paid to make weird noises. it is a pretty unique talent though. think about it he is the only one at the moment who can do that. i think that this is a pretty weird but cool job. so next time you hear a weird sound on a cartoon or show it might be this boy making the sounds. pretty cool. this story is definitely news worthy it is pretty awesome.

BEAT BOXING

Have you ever wondered what that sound is that you can make with your mouth?
Well it might be beat boxing. Technically it is a way of vocal percussion, that involves rhythm and cool drum beats from your mouth. Beat boxing is thought to have originated from India. Beat boxing is definitely cooler than humming. Think about humming, there isn't much to it. Beat boxing on the other hand is a pretty cool way to express your rhythmic abilities. It is also very fun to do. You can pretty much do it whenever you want to,but probably not much in school, because some teachers get anoied.
The reason for beat boxing, i think is... say you don't have anything to listen to music on,what can you do. You can beat box any song you know, and then your friends can join in and it will all sound cool. The people who do beat boxing are drummers, rappers,or just people who want to have fun. I personally love to beat box, and beat period. I think it is so much fun. You are probably wondering now, how do you beat box. Well it is hard to explain but i will try.
You can do it different ways, depending on the person. One way is to take my lips and make kind of a low sounding popping noise. Then i move my lips back and forth to make it sound even more interesting. After that i bring my tongue up and down and all around, and then i can make any beat you throw at me.
Another way I do it is kind of gross in a way, i kind of swish a little saliva around to make a clicking kind of sound. When i use this method i can do tons of beats. Also when i use this method i can do really fast upbeat beats. This one is my favorite.

from:http://www.projectrescue.com/

their purpose:
Project Rescue's journey began in 1997 when K.K. Devaraj, an Indian National, and members of his Bombay Teen Challenge organization went into the Falkland Road red-light district in Mumbai, India with a passion to reach the young generation that was ensnared in drugs, gangs, and prostitution. The task force was stunned by what was there: a tragic city of over 100,000 women and girls, many of whom had been sold into sexual slavery by their impoverished families in North India and Nepal.
In that first encounter, they inspired over 100 young women to escape and find a new life in Jesus Christ. They were also given an additional 32 little girls by enslaved sex workers who hoped to prevent their young daughters from sharing their dark fate.

what they do:
Rescuing today's young sexual slavery victims is nothing short of a miracle.
It is a long process and one filled with risks and challenges that require considerable skill, knowledge, and poise. Our lessons learned have come the hard way.

Admittedly, our efforts don't always end with a rescued child or woman. Yet our determination to right this horrific wrong remains unshakable. Our joy in seeing the miracle of restoration reflected in a young person's eyes from sad darkness to exuberant light provides our singular focus.

what can you do to help:
There are many ways in which you can help us create real and lasting change in the lives of victims of forced prostitution:

•Donate your time
•Raise awareness
•Give your financial support

from tomsshoes.com

In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

Since our beginning, TOMS has given over 140,000* pairs of shoes to children in need through the One for One model. Because of your support, TOMS plans to give over 300,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world in 2009.

Our ongoing community events and Shoe Drop Tours allow TOMS supporters and enthusiasts to be part of our One for One movement.
